News from Practice:

The Practice now offers chlamydia screening and treatment. If you are aged 15-24 pop into the practice for your free screening pack found at any of the collection points around the Practice.

If you are interested in the Psychological Therapy Service offered by MHC please look at the services page or ask reception for a self referral pack.

The next Patients Partnership Group meeting is on the 23rd August 2010 at the Practice. (See PPG page for more details.)

The world is now in the post-pandemic period. Based on knowledge about past pandemics, the H1N1 (2009) virus is expected to continue to circulate as a seasonal virus for some years to come. While the level of concern is now greatly diminished, vigilance on the part of national health authorities remains important. Such vigilance is especially critical in the immediate post-pandemic period, when the behaviour of the H1N1 (2009) virus as a seasonal virus cannot be reliably predicted.

Monitoring patterns and levels of worldwide activity

As part of regular monitoring of H1N1 pandemic influenza, the WHO is in close dialogue with public health experts in countries worldwide, specifically to determine whether H1N1 activity has returned to levels and patterns normally seen for seasonal flu.

Patient Partnership Group (PPG)

The PPG is a very active patient-led group, which meets every six weeks to discuss matters of concern to patients and to learn of developments and innovations planned by the Practice. The group is joined by one of the Partners and by the Practice Manager who all work jointly to improve patient services.

The PPG is also responsible for publishing the Health Centre Newsletter and for organising both the Open Day and the Health Fair. Representatives from the PPG also attend meetings at the Centre's Policy Forum and take part in the Practice's Centre Review held annually.

All patients are welcome to attend the PPG meetings and to become members of the PPG.
